The importance of 'fear' in life

Hello everyone! It's been a very long time I last posted here. I guess I just posted little bit during the time I started this blog and then as if I forgot it. Though I was just too busy to write anything that could involve some good amount of philosophical thought. I have been willing to post here since a long time, but I was out of words to be precise. Let's see if I can revoke this blog with atleast one post per week :)

Coming to the topic I want to share my viewpoint upon today is the importance of fear in life. I think most people wish to be fearless/pretend to be fearless, though in reality there is nothing like 'sans-fear-life'. Being to close to something like sans-fear is more of being emotionless pumpkin and running from the reality. I agree you should be courageous and should not be afraid of the conditions, and results of your activity. But a little fear element in life makes your life worth it.

Let me explain what I mean before you guys kill me with that high-brow look! :D Let me discuss a little about the concept of 'sin' in any religion. Don't worry, I will be able to connect my points, so be patient and give it a read, thanks.

An activity is considered a sin if it somehow has an adverse effect on somebody just because it is profitable for you. Seeking profits at expanse of somebody's happiness/peace is a sin. The concept of sin in a religion adds a factor of fear of god. THere was ta stupid movie which quoted, "People are god fearing and not god loving". The movie depicted this as a very wrong thing. But the truth is that this fear of god is originating because we fear if we will do something wrong, which we believe to be a sin, god will make sure we pay for our wrong deeds. Think for a second, keeping your rational psyche away, isn't it good, if our will-power is not strong enough to safeguard us from getting into a shitty activity, that a so called 'fear of a sin' would keep us away from indulging in something wrong?

Considering that way, just think. You analyse a situation before proceeding with your so called 'courageous' action. After giving it a thought, you come to know that what you thought to be courage, was nothing but your ego camouflaged! The fear of the result being adverse, being something that is somehow not what you actually want is better than an untutored courage which pushes you into an endless well of remorse and guilt.

There is a point till which being fearless is a good thing. But outside the limits everything is bad. Always remember, overdose of everything is bad. Thus, fear has it's own part in our life. We can neglect it, but the reality is it is always present in our life. In the back of our mind, we always have a little fear that, "Oh God! Please nothing bad should happen. Save me, have mercy." This fear keeps your actions in check, and doesn't let you go berserk and mindless in the typical situation life throws at you everyday.

With that, I have said what I wanted to. Fear is an important aspect of life. Being afraid of everything is bad, and renders you weak. But at the same time, being too fearless is nothing but ego. So always remember, even if you are fearless, be afraid of things that you should not do, things that might harm somebody.

Good evening!

Steroids and similar, eh, "DRUGS"!

Hello my dear readers! I hope everyone is doing good :)

So my thought process has landed me back on my desiccator and before my thoughts go into air, let me write them down! LOL!

Back to being talking about drugs, would I be called a peddler just because I am talking about them again? Ah! Grow up! :P

I had posted an article on drugs sometime ago(Am I posting one post per month? Strange, but I didn't want to do that, it's just a coincidence, oh back to conversation!). Knowing the increasing impacts of drugs on the current generation(guess what? I am also the current generation, though too far away from drugs and similar $#it, oops! pardon that one), I was thinking to talk more about it.

I am a college student and being in touch with people from all types of backgrounds. I know people who are good, people who are almost 'hermits'(not indulging in any of the crappy-materialistic act), and those who are bad, worse and WORST!

Anyways, we know why steroids are harmful(I mean, I guess you all know that, right? O_O) The doctors don't prescribe steroids easily to the patients either. The problem being their addicting nature. What's addiction? When we do something for quite sometime and our mind and body start getting conditioned to it, we are unable to give that thing up. In simple words, such a state is called addiction.

Seeing the current scenario of the world and especially the students(one of the most vulnerable section of the people, vulnerable to addiction of various things). I titled this post as "Steroids and similar, eh, "DRUGS"!" because I couldn't broadly use the words in my post header. I would like to say that what I am gonna write further, might not be liked by many, but well, it's my desiccator, and that's what it is for, to not to let my thoughts die out without being conveyed!

I would say, not only the Steroids are such addicting drugs, but most of the habits today;s individuals being indulging into are similar to this addiction, and can thus be classified under "drugs" only. I actually wanted to talk about them, that's why I titled the post that.

You know what? I was intending to post this one on 29th February, but I didn't do that. When I was at college listening to my classmates' conversations made me to do a little observation before posting it. How did I perform the observation? Well, you guys know of my other blog, Blog de Toxifier, right? If you guys noticed, I made a post on it about Grand Theft Auto series. Now stop giving me that high-brow look! Let me finish first! >_< So what did I do was, add some provocative images to my post. I never do that, I hate vulgarity! Even when I knew this could affect my blog's reputation, I did that. I observed a jump in my daily visitor count(For the first time I didn't like my visitor count going up :/) and apart from that, my classmates who never saw my blog, I saw them browsing it, and reading the article so keenly! And when I asked them how is that happening? They said, "Dude those chics you used on your blog are amazing!" I was so embarrassed. I never thought that this could be comments of my "friends". I didn't want to post such things on my blog, but I did it just to see the impact. I have removed the pics(hey! I had post nothing of the sort of "18+", it was just a bit provocative, not nudity! >_<)

Anyways, my observations landed me to say that, "Yes! These drugs are strangling the current generation". What these drugs are? Just those Marijuana, or Cocaine, or Steroids? No! The ones I am talking of, are more deadly! How? Oh well! I tried, but I couldn't use those words on my blog, I am just not gonna use them.

I guess I need to take a pause on this one here only. I couldn't write any further on this. But yes, my observation showed me, "these other drugs" have got in their clutches the fortunes of the youngsters, more badly than those chemicals.

Thanks for reading, and sorry for not completing! :/

Mahashivaratri - Hindu Festival

A big hello to all my dear readers! :)

Today was a very important day from the point of view of a Hindu. A day, with utter importance on the Hindu Calendar. The day being - Mahashivaratri!

Time for some General Knowledge about the great festival : (Although I don't believe in copy-paste, but well! Wikipedia has so nicely compiled the knowledge, that it would save me time, so I am doing it this time!)

(Of course I don't have copyright to this pic!)

Shivaratri literally means the great night of Shiva or the night of Shiva. It is celebrated every year on the 13th night/14th day of the Maagha or Phalguna month of the Hindu calendar. Since many different calendars are followed by various ethno-linguistic groups of India, the month and the Tithi name are not uniform all over India. Celebrated in the dark fortnight or Krishna Paksha(waning moon) of the month of Maagha according to the Shalivahana or Gujarati Vikrama or Phalguna according to the Vikrama era. The festival is principally celebrated by offerings of Bael or Bilva/Vilvam leaves to Lord Shiva, all day fasting and an all night long vigil. In accordance with scriptural and discipleship traditions, penances are performed in order to gain boons in the practice of Yoga and meditation, in order to reach life's summum bonum steadily and swiftly.

From the very early morning, Shiva temples are flocked by devotees, mostly women, who come to perform the traditional Shivalinga worship (puja) and hence hope for favours from the god. Devotees bathe at sunrise, preferably in the Ganga, or any other holy water source (like the Shiva Sagartank at Khajurao). This is a purificatory rite, an important part of all Hindu festivals. Wearing a clean piece of clothing after the holy bath, worshippers carry pots of water to the temple to bathe the Shivalinga. They offer prayers to the sun, Vishnu and Shiva.Women pray for the well-being of their husbands and sons. An unmarried woman prays for a husband like Shiva, who is considered to be the ideal husband. The temple reverberates with the sound of bells and shouts of “Shankerji ki Jai” meaning 'Hail Shiva'. Devotees circumambulate the linga, three or seven times, and then pour water over it. Some also pour milk.

According to the Shiva Purana, the Mahashivaratri worship must incorporate six items:
  • Bathing the Shiv Linga with water, milk and honey, and Wood apple or bel leaves added to it, representing purification of the soul;
  • The vermilion paste applied on the Shiv Linga after bathing it, representing virtue;
  • Offering of fruits, which is conducive to longevity and gratification of desires;
  • Burning incense, yielding wealth;
  • The lighting of the lamp which is conducive to the attainment of knowledge;
  • And betel leaves marking satisfaction with worldly pleasures.
Tripundra refers to the three horizontal stripes of holy ash applied to the forehead by worshippers of Lord Shiva. These stripes symbolise spiritual knowledge, purity and penance (spiritual practice of Yoga), so also they represent the three eyes of Lord Shiva.

Wearing a rosary made from the rudraksha seed of the rudraksha tree (said to have sprung from the tears of Lord Shiva) when worshipping Lord Shiva is ideal. A rudraksha seed is a mahogany-like color, sometimes black, and sometimes may have traces of sacred sandalwood powder, turmeric, kumkum, or holy ash if the rosary was used in worship ceremonies or anointed.

Anyways, enough of the General Knowledge, for more you can refer to the articles at the end of this one. So the thing that urged me to post this. Well, I just saw on msn, an article on the great day. The best part was that article. The article was titled - "For Kashmiri Hindus and Muslims, Shivratri bridges a gap". Kashmir is an amazing place, but has been a point of tension between India and Pakistan. Let's not go into details, things could take a turn, and the article would become endless, engulfing in itself, many other articles. (The msn article is attached at the end!).

The article is very nicely written. I was quite happy to read that the great festival was bridging the gap between the two religions who had been in a state of tension since quite long(on the contrary! I am a hindu and I have some great Muslim friends! :D )

I was rather in a mood of talking about it too, but they have completed the article so well, there is nothing I could say about it, more than that, please please please!! Read the article! :)

A big thanks for giving your precious time to read this. Hope you all had a great day! :)

Strike Drugs before they Strangle You!

Hello everybody! I was looking through my Cupboard today, I found some articles I have written during my school life. One of them was "Strike Drugs before the Strangle You!" . Though not written so well, but still worth sharing, I guess! So here it goes:

***START OF THE ARTICLE***

In todays world, everywhere one can find addicts. Some are sport addicts, some are party-addicts, some are addicts to movies, etc. and etc. But the most devastating addiction is of Drugs. Addiction start out of curiosity. Once you are curious about something you tend to try it out. Once you start liking it, you may become addicted to it. many addicts are friends generated, i.e., they become addicts because they feel inferior in front of their friends who are already addicts. Some come out of boredom. While others come out of stress, social alienation, unhappiness, etc. Drug addiction has not just one reason but many.Drug Addiction leads to loss of appetite, eye disorders, physical and mental disorders, and in worst cases lead to death. Drug Addicts generally have puffy eyes and are short tempered. Their mood changes suddenly and they start showing tantrums. To get rid of stress and problems (only psychologically!), the take drugs. However they make their own lives a hell and create large holes in their own pockets. Those who are unable gather enough money to buy drugs, find other like stealing, theft, robbery. Some may become decoits even. They start becoming burden, both socially and economically, on a society, or on the country as a whole!.

We must make our own relatives, friends, neighbors aware about the not so good effects of drugs on one's life. I think, the motto of one's life must be - "Strike Drugs Before They Strangle You!"

"If you take drugs periodically
they'll harm you mentally
they make you weak physically, and economically
they devastate your image, socially
So why not leave drugs
before they strangle you?
After all, this your life
no one else can live it,
other than you!"

***END OF THE ARTICLE***
Hey all! I hope you liked it! :D I wrote it when I was young. Though now I am better at writing articles than before. So, if in case I will come across an article by me that would be worth sharing on this desiccator of mine (hahaha!!), I would love to share it with you all! :)

By the way, don't you guys agree with what I have written in this article?. Drugs are actually very harmful. Scientifically seeing, every medicine is a drug, but in general language, we use "Drug" as a word to refer to those harmful, intoxicating, "wrong sort of" chemicals, that generally cause short-lived Euphoria, a main reason leading to the addiction. One feels high after taking drugs, and thus starts thinking that its good for him/her, but if we see in real sense, it's not doing anything else than harming him/her!

Getting addicted is too easy because the present generation seems to be thinking of taking drugs to be cool. I remember a school friend of mine, who got into drugs as soon as he got into college. But later he faced too much of troubles. His college-mates used to say that he couldn't stand still anywhere. He also gave himself to depression. But, he took psychologist's help and became fine. I hope nobody else gets into these drug thing.

Where do these drugs come from? Have heard a lot about this drug mafia thing that they smuggle drugs across the borders, of course - ILLEGAL. A small amount of drug can be very dangerous depending upon it's purity. One of my friend told me, more refine a drug is, more costlier it is, more addictive it is, and hence more deadly it is!

I know without medicines, life can be a bit difficult, but of course, there is no problem in living a life without these dangerous ones who do nothing more than drastic amount of damage to our body!

There is too much to speak about drugs. They are of so many kinds, and all. But I guess, its better to rest my case over here.

Strike Drugs before they strangle you, and make your life, and this world - better! :)

Good Day! Stay Safe! Thanks for reading! ^_^
