Reservation and Equality - Well, a bit too far apart!

Had been wondering lately about the topic of reservation. Being one of the students of the "General" category, I too strongly oppose reservation. Though I have to admit, my knowledge about it, and about the affairs relating to it is quite too less, but still is enough to generate a sense of hatred for this system.

When we are talking of a world where we preach equality, according to me, reservation system stands no place in such a scenario. The reason many give to support this system is that, in earlier times people of minority communities have faced repression at the hands of the rich, and "Upper Class" people, or the Majority Community.

So years after the abolition of caste and class system our dear politicians revive this issue, generating a huge vote-bank for themselves, and at the same time, putting fuel to the fire, NO! in this case, fire to the fuel (because the things were much calmer before! huh!). But does this mean, if we were to think that these people were oppressed in past, so now they must be given a equal status(even if they already are getting it!), then does this gives a reason to all the commonwealth countries declare a war against Britain? o_O Or does this gives a reason to the people of South Africa to kill the whites dwelling there? No! NO!! NOOO!!! Then just to strengthen their political position why do they want to generate his widespread hatred and inequality in the nation of ours?! :/

I would like to state a note that I read on facebook about a month ago. It's Wipro chairman Mr. Azim prem ji's comment on reservation:

I think we should have job reservations in all the fields. I completely support the PM and all the politicians for promoting this. Let's start the reservation with our cricket team. We should have 30 percent reservation for OBC, SC /ST like that. Cricket rules should be modified accordingly. The boundary circle should be reduced for an SC/ST player. The four hit by an SC/ST/OBC player should be considered as a six and a six hit by a SC/ST/OBC player should be counted as 8 runs. An SC/ST/OBC player scoring 60 runs should be declared as a century. We should influence ICC and make rules so that the pace bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar should not bowl fast balls to our SC/ST/OBC player. Bowlers should bowl maximum speed of 80 kilometer per hour to an SC/ST/OBC player. Any delivery above this speed should be made illegal. Also we should have reservation in Olympics. In the 100 meters race, an SC/ST/OBC player should be given a gold medal if he runs 80 meters. There can be reservation in Government jobs also. Let's recruit SC/ST and OBC pilots for aircrafts which are carrying the ministers and politicians (that can really help the country) Ensure that only SC/ST and OBC doctors do the operations for the ministers and other politicians. (Another way of saving the country) Let's be creative and think of ways and means to guide INDIA forward... Let's show the world that INDIA is a GREAT country. Let's be proud of being an INDIAN.. May the good breed of politicians long live..

Of course his comment is a big slap on the move of the Indian Government, but well, our politicians have been shameless and they didn't pay any attention. As I said, what they wanted they got, a huge vote-bank! :/

When we say that its been years to those things, and talking about them can open some un-healed wounds, or can provoke hatred, then why reservation? I remember, until I have not known much about reservation, almost everyone was similar to me. But since I have known of it, I myself have started to make a difference between reserved and unreserved people! I never knew that I was a classmate of some reserved community students. And never did I have seen them with hate. Are they really different? I don't think so. But this reservation system has given the students a reason to discriminate. I don't mean I now discriminate, no I never do. I have many friends in those "reserved" communities. But yes, the move of the government is something that has hurt me. I always wanted to be a doctor, but I couldn't get admission in a good medical college all because of this stupid regime of reservation. Despite my good results in entrance exams, I had to be left out all because a reserved category candidate scoring way too less than me, was to be preferred due to Reservation! :/

If our politicians think that these people need help, why not help them monetarily? Why do you wish to render such a help that somehow kills some awesome talent? huh!

There have been efforts on large scale against this stupid norm, that is killing talent slowly, and of course is a major reason of Brain Drain, but I guess, since its my blog, atleast here I can say anything I want! Yes, this is my desiccator, and I have all rights to let my thoughts not die!
