The importance of 'fear' in life

Hello everyone! It's been a very long time I last posted here. I guess I just posted little bit during the time I started this blog and then as if I forgot it. Though I was just too busy to write anything that could involve some good amount of philosophical thought. I have been willing to post here since a long time, but I was out of words to be precise. Let's see if I can revoke this blog with atleast one post per week :)

Coming to the topic I want to share my viewpoint upon today is the importance of fear in life. I think most people wish to be fearless/pretend to be fearless, though in reality there is nothing like 'sans-fear-life'. Being to close to something like sans-fear is more of being emotionless pumpkin and running from the reality. I agree you should be courageous and should not be afraid of the conditions, and results of your activity. But a little fear element in life makes your life worth it.

Let me explain what I mean before you guys kill me with that high-brow look! :D Let me discuss a little about the concept of 'sin' in any religion. Don't worry, I will be able to connect my points, so be patient and give it a read, thanks.

An activity is considered a sin if it somehow has an adverse effect on somebody just because it is profitable for you. Seeking profits at expanse of somebody's happiness/peace is a sin. The concept of sin in a religion adds a factor of fear of god. THere was ta stupid movie which quoted, "People are god fearing and not god loving". The movie depicted this as a very wrong thing. But the truth is that this fear of god is originating because we fear if we will do something wrong, which we believe to be a sin, god will make sure we pay for our wrong deeds. Think for a second, keeping your rational psyche away, isn't it good, if our will-power is not strong enough to safeguard us from getting into a shitty activity, that a so called 'fear of a sin' would keep us away from indulging in something wrong?

Considering that way, just think. You analyse a situation before proceeding with your so called 'courageous' action. After giving it a thought, you come to know that what you thought to be courage, was nothing but your ego camouflaged! The fear of the result being adverse, being something that is somehow not what you actually want is better than an untutored courage which pushes you into an endless well of remorse and guilt.

There is a point till which being fearless is a good thing. But outside the limits everything is bad. Always remember, overdose of everything is bad. Thus, fear has it's own part in our life. We can neglect it, but the reality is it is always present in our life. In the back of our mind, we always have a little fear that, "Oh God! Please nothing bad should happen. Save me, have mercy." This fear keeps your actions in check, and doesn't let you go berserk and mindless in the typical situation life throws at you everyday.

With that, I have said what I wanted to. Fear is an important aspect of life. Being afraid of everything is bad, and renders you weak. But at the same time, being too fearless is nothing but ego. So always remember, even if you are fearless, be afraid of things that you should not do, things that might harm somebody.

Good evening!
